The Good, The Bad and The Perfect: Are You Hearing God’s Voice?
How Do I Find Out God’s Will For Me?
In my last blog, I touched briefly on what the Will of God is. You may ask, “well, we learn that from hearing His voice, do we not?” I want to take some time to go into more detail about how you can know if you are hearing the voice of God.
Is This Voice God?
What is the voice of God? When do we hear it? How do we hear it? What else am I hearing if it isn’t God? Who is speaking to me, if not Him? Well, really there are many different voices you can hear as a Christian looking to follow the Father’s will for your life. Over the next few blogs, I will be speaking more about how to tune in clearly to God’s voice and His perfect will.
During my time in ministry, I have frequently been led, guided and prompted in different directions. I know God is not a God who gets confused, or changes his mind. However, sometimes it can feel like He has changed his mind. He has not… you may in fact be listening to a wrong voice speaking things that seem so similar to God’s plan that it is hard to tell the difference…
So Who Else Is Speaking To Me?
For example: you may have a mentor advising you to go in a certain direction, but you know deep down that you must not go. But he is your mentor! My Sensei would never ask me to do something that would take me out of the will of God, right? Well, there have been at least 3 major times in my life when a mentor has pointed me left, but the Father has pointed me right. I have a tremendous amount of respect and appreciation for my spiritual leaders and mentors. They have taught me so much and shared wisdom with me far beyond my years. So much do I honor them, that I now prefer spending time with “the grey hairs”, as I call them. Why? Because I can glean decades of knowledge, in a one hour conversation. is vital that we learn from those who have gone before us! But remember, they are not God and only YOU can hear from God for YOU.
Our family always has our best interests at heart in the advice they give; our mentors are our mentors because we seek their counsel; our friends want us to do well in life and the devil himself can appear as an angel of light. Gosh! It’s like we are at an intersection and every sign to every route says, “God’s will this way…”, but we know God has a single path in mind for us.
“Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it.”
So, Join Me, in this blog, as we learn about the voices that lead and guide us. Some are good, some are bad, but only one is perfect.
